Serve VAST Compliant Video Ads in AVID!

We’ve added more features to AVID this week and they’re HUGE. Each of the new features listed in this post will get its own standalone post and support page that will walk you through all the options for each feature, but here are a few of the highlights:

For publishers, AVID can now rotate video ads into the AVID placements on your website. A feature uniquely AVID (and only available in AVID Ad Server) is the ability to create Video Ad Styles. Similar to the text-ad styles that allow you to create custom ad containers and native image ads with title and description text, you can now create a custom video ad container.

For advertisers, you can now serve and host fully compliant VAST tags in AVID.

As advertisers, marketing agencies, and brands move into video advertising more and more, it was important that AVID had the features to support them in an easy to use process. Here are the details:

Placements

There is a new option called “VAST Tag” in the “Tracking Type” drop down menu. Use this tracking type to create a VAST tag to host and serve video ads. A VAST Tag placement can only contain video ads. There are two options when creating a video ad within the VAST tag placement: VAST video tag or Custom XML tag. Use the VAST video tag when hosting and serving your own video files. Use the Custom XML tag when serving a third party VAST tag.

On the “Placement Details” screen of a VAST Tag Placement, there is a new reporting button called “Video.” It opens the ‘Video Statistics’ breakdown screen where you can view the stats of all the VAST events that were sent back to AVID.

You also have the option to rotate a video into a standard Ad Server placement. All of the targeting features available for banner and text-ad ad groups and ads are also available for video ad groups and ads.

Native Video Ad Styles

AVID is already known for our easy to use ad style templates that combine images with text elements to make custom native ads and ad panels. We’ve combined our video feature with our ad style template feature to allow users to create their own native video ad styles. Here is an example tag using a native video ad style.

Easily change out images and text around your video to create custom native video styles that match your landing pages.

Video Statistics Reporting

In the “Placement Details” of a VAST Tag placement, there is a new reporting option for video statistics.

Video statistics will give you all the stats from VAST events recorded in AVID. You can also customize the report to include or hide different stats columns.

Media Library

Video ads can be added manually to your ‘Media Library’. Videos are added to the Media Library the same way you add banner ads or text-ad styles. All of the options available when setting up a new video ad can also be set in the Media Library. In the “Create” drop down menu there are new options for in-Banner Video, Youtube Video, VAST Tag, and Custom XML Tag. You can also add video ads you’ve already created using the “Copy to Media Library” button in the ‘Edit Video Ad’ screen.

Custom Reports

In the ‘Custom Reports’ section there are two new reports available in the ‘Report Type’ drop down menu: Video Statistics and Video Errors Statistics. These reports will download all of the VAST events recorded in the selected placement.
